The course covers three major topics: the first section answers the philosophical question of “Why Have Reserves?” by examining the pros and cons of Associations with well‐funded Reserve accounts. The second part of the course explores the concept of Percent‐Funded, a metric used for measuring the strength of an Association’s reserve account at any point in time. The course then concludes with a detailed explanation and analysis of the differences between the two methods of reserve fund budgeting, known as the “straight‐line” method and the “pooled” method. All course attendees should come away with a greater understanding of the importance of reserve funding, as well insights about the specific methodologies that can be used to help guide their Associations to financial success.
